Wren and Cuff XTS Fade Font 94

Wren and Cuff XTS Fade Font ’94 is a compact fuzz based on a distinctive 1994 Sovtek-era Big Muff from the personal collection of Wren and Cuff founder Matt Holl. While the Tall Font Russian is known for its relatively milder character, the Fade Font ’94 is its louder and more aggressive sibling, delivering more gain, a raw, gritty fuzz texture and a powerful, focused low end. This makes it an excellent choice for both guitar and bass.
The original 1994 pedal featured unusual component values, while loose manufacturing tolerances and decades of component drift gave it a character all its own. Wren and Cuff spent nearly two years measuring, experimenting and revising the circuit to recreate that specific sound. The XTS version packs the same voice into an exceptionally compact enclosure. Although a few of the unique components used in the full-size Fade Font ’94 could not be incorporated into such a small format, the XTS gets remarkably close to the tone and feel of its larger sibling
Despite its tiny footprint, no compromises have been made when it comes to build quality. The XTS Fade Font ’94 is hand-built in the USA to the same high standards as other Wren and Cuff pedals. It runs on 9V DC center-negative power, draws just 8 mA, and does not support battery operation. The pedal features fully mechanical true bypass.
Wren and Cuff
Wren and Cuff is a boutique American brand focused entirely on crafting high-quality fuzz and distortion pedals that pay tribute to the legendary tones of the ’60s and ’70s. Their pedals are raw, expressive, and built with a keen ear for detail—perfect for players who want gritty tone with real character.
Popular models like the Tall Font Russian, Caprid, and Box of War are all inspired by classic Muff circuits, but upgraded for modern performance. These stompboxes deliver thick, creamy fuzz tones while still retaining playing dynamics and clarity—no mud, just focused sonic mayhem.
Vintage fuzz with a modern twist
What sets Wren and Cuff apart is their commitment to tone authenticity and top-tier components. Each pedal is hand-built in California, often using NOS parts, and tested to perfection. The result? True vintage tone, without the hassle of unreliable old gear.
