KMA Machines GUARDIAN of the WURM combines the aggressive high-gain distortion of the WURM with a fast and accurate built-in noise gate. The pedal builds on the classic HM-2 concept and delivers everything from tight modern metal and doom to the iconic Swedish death metal “chainsaw” sound. With three clipping modes – Silicon, Asymmetric and Off – you can choose between the classic compressed HM-2 response, a rawer sound with increased headroom, or a more open character that works particularly well with bass and baritone guitar.

For extensive tone shaping, the GUARDIAN features an active 4-band EQ, with the center frequency of each band adjustable directly on the pedal. The EQ STYLE switch lets you choose between HM-II, KMA and BOTH, while the Clean Blend allows you to mix your dry signal back into the distortion for additional definition and a tighter low end. The built-in Blackmer VCA-based noise gate features a straightforward Threshold control and can be precisely tailored to your setup using the external trigger and internal settings.

A convenient TRS FX loop is positioned between the distortion and noise gate, allowing you to place other effects between the two sections or use the gate with your amplifier’s effects loop. The distortion and gate can be switched independently or operated together in Synced Mode. The GUARDIAN of the WURM features relay-based soft switching with true bypass, runs on a standard 9V DC center-negative power supply, and draws less than 150 mA.
